                                          ARTIST STATEMENT

 

     The intention of my artwork is to communicate how fascinating I find the spiritual world and how it is deeply connected with the physical realm, whether one is aware of it or not. My interest is to show how the invisible is usually more real than what can be seen.

     Through art I am constantly searching for ways to explain how, directly or indirectly, we become part of the problems in our society instead of just viewers. I strongly believe that we are responsible for what is happening in the world rather than being victims. After taking responsibility it is easier to acknowledge that the only way to make a change is to change ourselves. I am certain that the key for a better life is within us and we decide if we want to use it or not. My proposal includes realizing that it is our job, and only ours, to generate peace within ourselves even if we live in a world in war.

      In order to communicate my ideas I create unique characters which include: bowl headed creatures that feed from the sacred energy of the universe, hairless people that materialize their desires on their heads, soul mates that are happy of reencountering each other, and alchemists that instead of working with metal are working with their own personality, among other beings full of symbolism.

     Although Surrealism and Pop Art have influenced me enormously, I refuse to label myself. Approaching my work with the same passion for art that accompanies me since childhood is a constant invitation to play with different disciplines, techniques and materials. Art is not just a lifestyle for me; it is also the therapy that helps to know myself better, to grow spiritually and to become a better person.

                                                        SEMBLANZA

 

         Con mi trabajo busco comunicar la importancia del mundo espiritual y como esta directamente conectado con el plano físico aun cuando no somos consciente de ello. Tengo la certeza de que estamos rodeados por entidades de luz y que si tomamos provecho de esto podemos enriquecer nuestra experiencia y recibir guía para nuestra propia evolución. 

          A través del arte explico cómo todos somos parte directa o indirecta de los problemas que aquejan a nuestra sociedad, en lugar de espectadores. De esta manera nos volvemos responsables de lo que sucede en el mundo, en lugar de victimas y reconocemos que la única manera de hacer un cambio real es cambiando nosotros mismos. Creo firmemente que la llave esta en nuestro interior y nosotros decidimos si la usamos o no. Mi propuesta incluye confrontarnos con la idea de que es nuestro trabajo, y de nadie más, mantenernos en paz aun viviendo en un mundo en guerra. 

     Para comunicar estas ideas creo personajes únicos que incluyen a criaturas con cabeza de plato que se alimentan de la energía sagrada del universo, personas calvas que materializan sus más profundos deseos sobre sus cabezas, almas gemelas que están felices de re-encontrarse y alquimistas que trabajan su propia personalidad en lugar de el metal, entre muchos otros seres llenos de simbolismo.

 

   Me aferro a la misma pasión por el arte que me ha acompañado desde mi niñez y desde ahí abordo mi trabajo. Disfruto jugar con distintas técnicas y materiales porque me divierten y porque me ayudan a ser un artista más completo. El arte para mi no es solo un estilo de vida, también es la terapia que me lleva al autoconocimiento, a crecer espiritualmente y a convertirme en una mejor persona.
